On 9/5/14, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Gregory Hicks (Elizabethton, 28 years old) and charged him with forgery.
On 7/1/14, Gregory Hicks went into Greater Eastern Credit Union and passed a check that was stolen from a residence in Elizabethton. Contact was made with the owner of the check who advised that she had filed a report with Elizabethton Police Department in reference to the stolen checks. The victim advised that she did not give permission to Mr. Hicks to take the check or cash it.
Gregory Hicks was arrested after he was released from Carter County Jail on charges that stemmed from the theft of the check. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 10:30 a.m. on 9/8/14 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
