On 7/31/14, Investigators of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Bobby Ray Nelson (Johnson City, 57 years old) charging him with aggravated statutory rape.
On 6/18/14, a report was made to the Johnson City Police Department after a parent found inappropriate text messages on her juvenile daughter's cell phone. The text messages revealed correspondence of an intimate nature between the 16 year old juvenile and Nelson. Nelson gave a statement to investigators admitting he took part in a consensual act with the juvenile.
On 7/31/14, Nelson was arrested and taken to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear at 10:30 a.m. on 8/1/14 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
