On 07/25/14, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Franco Becerra (711 Old State Route 34, Jonesborough; 26 years old) and charged him with Felony Evading, Driving while Suspended 3rd, Open Container, Violation of Seatbelt Law, and Financial Responsibility.
At approximately 3:25 a.m., officers attempted a traffic stop on a white Buick near the intersection of W. State of Franklin Road and W. Watauga Avenue. The Buick did not stop for emergency equipment and continued to travel westbound on W. State of Franklin Road. With the assistance of members of the Tennessee Highway Patrol and ETSU Public Safety, officers were able to get the vehicle to stop, allowing Franco Becerra, the driver, to be taken into custody. A 6-pack of opened Corona bottles was observed within the vehicle. Becerra showed to have a suspended license with two previous convictions of driving while suspended. Becerra was also unrestrained and did not have insurance. Becerra was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of an $11,500 bond. His arraignment hearing is set for 7/25/14 at 10:30 a.m. in Washington County General Session Court.
