On 4/7/14, Investigators of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Rafael Vazquez Rodriguez (3115 Rocky Top Rd., 32 years old) and charged him with Aggravated Kidnapping.
The arrest came as a result of an investigation into an incident that occurred in the Boones Creek area of Johnson City on 4/6/14. The victim in this incident stated she had been abducted by Mr. Rodriguez, her ex-boyfriend, and driven away from Johnson City. The victim reported that she was assaulted and her cell phone taken from her en route to North Carolina. The victim was able to flee from Rodriguez after convincing him to stop at a rest stop in Buncombe County, NC.
On 4/7/14, Rodriguez was taken into custody after being located at his place of employment. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 4/8/14 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
