On 08/02/2020, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Daeszhon Smith (25 years of age) of 1319 Bell Ridge Rd, in Johnson City TN, and charged him with four counts of Auto Burglary and one count of theft under $1000.
On 08/01/2020, Daeszhon Smith parked in front of 1804 E Millard St. He was observed by camera footage walking to the victim’s vehicles. Mr. Smith unlawfully entered the victim’s vehicle, at which time, the victim confronted him. Mr. Smith ran to his vehicle and fled. A neighbor called about the entire incident and provided dispatch with the license plate. Officers observed the vehicle with its’ headlights off on N Broadway St. Officers initiated a traffic stop. A K9 was called to perform a free air sniff and, subsequently, alerted on the driver’s side door. Officers searched the vehicle and found mail and documents belonging to a victim on the 1900 block of E Millard. This victim was contacted and found that his three other vehicles had been rummaged through. He was missing a tool set and money. The tool set was found in the trunk of Smith’s vehicle beside the documents. In light of the aforementioned circumstances, Daeszhon Smith was arrested and transported to Washington County Detention Center.
Daeszhon Smith is being held in lieu of a $21,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for 1:30p.m on 08/03/2020 in Washington County General Sessions.
