On July 8, 2020, at 5:27 pm, officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-26 near mile marker 18. The vehicle, a 2014 Harley Davidson Electra Glide motorcycle, was traveling east on Interstate 26 when the driver lost control and struck the cable barrier in the center median. Both the driver and passenger were transported to the Johnson City Medical center for treatment of their injuries. At the time of this new release, the female passenger in surgery and her status is unknown.
The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the Johnson City Police Dept. Traffic Homicide Team.
On July 9, 2020, the driver of the motorcycle, Terrence Crim, 34, Smyrna TN, was released from the hospital after receiving treatment for injuries sustained the day before In a motorcycle crash on I26. The passenger Cynthia Crim, 52, Smyrna TN, passed away at the hospital from her injuries sustained during the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
