On 4/26/20, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Tyler G. Smith (205 Fairridge Rd., 28 years old) and charged him with altering/falsifying/forging auto titles or assignment of plates, driving on a revoked license, simple possession of schedule VI, and possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia.
At approximately 2:45 p.m. on 4/26/20, officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in which Mr. Smith was the driver. The vehicle had a registration plate that had been noticeably altered with a slash through the 0 on the “20” to make the sticker appear as if it read “21”. A K9 officer arrived on scene and conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle yielding a positive result. The vehicle was searched and officers subsequently located two scales, a glass pipe, over 100 small baggies, 3.3 grams of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, and a cut straw.
Mr. Smith was taken into custody without incident ultimately charged with altering/falsifying/forging auto titles or assignment of plates, driving on a revoked license, simple possession of schedule VI, and possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia. Additionally, Mr. Smith had an active arrest warrant out of Washington County for violation of probation on original charges of possession of methamphetamine for resale and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Mr. Smith was transported to the Washington County Detention center where he is being held on a $4,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 4/27/20 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
