On 07/11/19 at approximately 1:30 pm, Investigators with the Johnson City Police Department arrested Wesley Rankins (43 yrs old, 102 Car Mol Dr #2) and charged him with numerous offenses.
The arrest is the result of investigations into burglaries at 11-E Motel, 3500 W. Market St, and Reliable Taxi, 900 Topeka St. In the 11-E Motel incident an individual tore through the sheetrock to an adjacent room and stole cash and jewelry on 07/05/19.
Entry was made to the office of Reliable Taxi on 06/28/19, at which point a filing cabinet was pried open and between $1,200-1,500 in cash was stolen. Surveillance video and witness statements were used to identify Mr. Rankins in both cases.
Mr. Rankins is charged with Aggravated Burglary, Burglary, 2 counts of Theft over $1,000, Domestic Simple Assault, and Possession of Methamphetamine. He is being held in the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a combined bond of $22,000. He is scheduled for Arraignment in General Sessions Court on 07/12/19 at 10:00 am.
