On 04/24/2019 at 8:52 p.m., officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to 1112 King Springs Rd (Aspen Ridge Apartments) in reference to an older white male, with a beard, who was intoxicated and pointing a gun at people. Upon arrival, they were pointed to the white male, later identified as Timothy Snipes, 64yoa, 1112 King Springs Rd Apt 4, Johnson City, TN. While directing Mr. Snipes to put his hands up, he began walking away toward an apartment. Officers continued directing verbal commands toward Mr. Snipes, but he refused to comply with their orders. They were, subsequently, able to make physical contact with Mr. Snipes and to determine that he appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicating beverage. Mr. Snipes was found to have a black revolver in his waistband that was concealed. Officers were then able to make contact with the victim who stated Mr. Snipes was pointing the gun at people outside, while yelling at residents and guests to leave. The victim was a resident of the complex and was directly threatened by Mr. Snipes.
Mr. Snipes was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Detention Center on charges of: Aggravated Assault, Public Intoxication, Possession of a Firearm while Under the Influence, and Resisting Arrest/Detainment. Mr. Snipes is currently being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond and an arraignment was scheduled for April 25, 2019 at 1:30 p.m.
