On 04/06/18, at 10:15 p.m., officers of Johnson City Police Department arrested Michael Broyles, 31, 469 Sugar Hollow Rd, Jonesborough, TN, 37659 and charged him with False Reporting, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Public Intoxication, and Possession of a Handgun While Under the Influence.
The arrest stems from an investigation into a private property vehicle wreck at the Cherry Street Lot. Mr. Broyles was attempting to report than an unknown vehicle had struck his vehicle and left the scene before police arrived. During the course of the investigation it was determined that Mr. Broyles had driven his vehicle into a tree at another location and then traveled to the Cherry Street Lot. Mr. Broyles admitted to attempting to lie to Johnson City Police Officers about what happened to his vehicle. It was also discovered that Mr. Broyles was currently on Oxycodone pills and appeared to be impaired. A search of his person revealed that he had a handgun in his possession.
Mr. Broyles was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $7,500 bond. An arraignment is set for 04/09/18, in Washington County General Sessions Court.
