**UPDATE**
The Johnson City Police Department has since received a preliminary autopsy report from the Pathologists at the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center in reference to Saturday’s discover of the fetus at the city’s Waste Water Treatment Facility. According to the preliminary results, the fetus was approximately 6 inches in length with an estimated gestational age of 15 weeks. The death was ruled as intrauterine as there was no signs of air in the fetus’ lungs or stomach. The fetus was ruled as pre-viable from the autopsy.
On Saturday, March 17, 2018, workers with the Johnson City Water and Sewer Department discovered a human fetus at the city’s Waste Water Treatment Facility located at 857 Riverview Drive, Johnson City, Tennessee. The fetus was found in one of the facility’s intake flows that services the areas south of Science Hill High School into Milligan Highway/Sinking Creek Road area. The fetus was collected from the intake flow and was taken to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center where an autopsy will be completed sometime later today. The Johnson City Police Department is asking the public for assistance in possibly identifying the mother of the fetus to ensure her safety and wellbeing during this time to ensure proper medical attention has been sought.
