On 10/17/17, Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Kristen Newland (2108 Sassafras Ct, 25 years old) and charged her with Identity Theft, Driving Under the Influence, and Driving on a Suspended License.
On 10/17/17 at approximately 11:35PM, officers were dispatched to Interstate 26 in reference to a vehicle traveling at high speeds, swerving all over the road, and flashing their high beams. Officers observed the vehicle traveling Westbound and performed a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver initially falsely identified herself as another person. After field sobriety, Ms. Newland was arrested for Driving under the Influence, and it was determined she falsified her identity. She was then correctly identified and discovered to have a suspended license for Failure to satisfy fines. Ms. Newland was then charged with Driving Under the Influence, Driving on a Suspended License, and Identity Theft. Mrs. Newland was then transported to the Washington County Detention Center.
She is being held at the Washington County Detention Center on a $12,000 bond. Ms. Newland is due to appear in court for her arraignment at 1:30 p.m. on 10/18/17 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
