On 04/26/13 at approximately 0145 hours officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to the area of Milligan Hwy//Cedar Point Rd after a resident in the area observed a white male break out his neighbor’s vehicle window and flee on foot. Officers located the subject in the area and identified him as Stewart W. Peppers, 22 yoa, of 606 Swadley Rd, #46, Johnson City. While speaking with officers, Mr. Peppers dropped a book bag and a gym bag he had been holding and fled on foot before being apprehended a few blocks away.
Inside the bags dropped by Mr. Peppers were found a loaded handgun, a vial containing a dosage of an anabolic steroid, and approx. 45 grams of a substance believed to be marijuana. Further investigation also revealed that Mr. Peppers had pointed the handgun at, and threatened, a passer-by in a vehicle at the intersection of Milligan Hwy//Swadley Rd at approx. 2330 hours.
Mr. Peppers is charged with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Felony Vandalism, Simple Possession of a Schedule VI Drug for Resale, and Simple Possession of a Schedule III Drug. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is currently being held on a $72,000 bond. Mr. Peppers is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on 04/26/13 at 1000 hours to be arraigned.
