Felony arrest of Cody Cox

                On 06/28/17, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Cody Cox (31 yrs old, 179 Sheets Hollow Rd, Johnson City) and charged him with False Reporting.  The arrest stems from an investigation into a stabbing that occurred on Plymouth Rd on 06/21/17.  Mr. Cox sustained multiple cuts inside a Suzuki SX4 in what he initially described as a robbery attempt by a white male named “D”.  He was treated at the Johnson City Medical Center and released for his injuries.  As a result, K-9 teams were deployed to track the offender and crime scene techs processed the vehicle for DNA and latent prints in an attempt to identify the suspect.  The investigation revealed, however, that the altercation that occurred in the vehicle was actually between Cody and a friend of his by the name of Jack and there was no robbery at all.  Jack’s actions taken inside the vehicle were believed to be in self-defense.  Mr. Cox is being held in the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $5,000 bond.  He is scheduled for arraignment in General Sessions Court on 06/29/17 at 10:30 am.
