SUBJECT: Felony Weapon Arrest                              DATE: 6/3/17                      TIME: 08:00 a.m.

PREPARED BY: Officer Kirt Stillwagon                     APPROVED BY:  Sgt. Hodges

On 6/2/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Julius L Ditto (509 Village Ct., Nashville, Tn., 31 years old) and he was charged with being a Convicted Felon in Possession of Handgun, Tampering with Evidence, Altering Vehicle Plates, and Simple Possession of Marijuana.  At approximately 2:00 p.m. on 6/2/17, officers observed a maroon Ford traveling on E Maple St with what appeared to be an altered Tennessee temporary tag. Officers conducted an investigatory  stop of the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Julius Ditto. While speaking with Ditto officers smelled marijuana emitting from the vehicle and asked Ditto to step out. When officers explained to Ditto about the smell, he stated there was no marijuana in the car, because he ate it. Officers then conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and located numerous items of contraband throughout the vehicle. Officers located rolling papers, a baggie that had an odor of marijuana, and a partially smoked marijuana joint. Officers then located a large sum of US currency and a loaded firearm in the center console of the vehicle. Upon inspection of the temporary tag it had been changed with a marker to extend the date.  Mr. Ditto has a previous felony conviction in Davidson County, TN.  He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $35,000 bond.  Arraignment was set for today, Monday, June 5th at 1:30 p.m., in Washington County General Sessions Court.
