On 03/30/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded on a fatal crash that occurred near 3026 South Roan St.
At approximately 3:40 pm, officers received a call concerning a vehicle that had run off of Interstate 26 and crashed into the building at 3026 S Roan St. When emergency personnel arrived it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle, identified as Rachel L. White, 521 Spoone Ave. Morristown, TN, 31 yrs old, had suffered a fatal injury during the crash. There were a total of two occupants in the vehicle, and the passenger, identified as Suzanne M. Cozad, 235 Boring Chapel Rd. Johnson City, TN, 43 yrs old, was transported to the Johnson City Medical Center where she was listed in stable condition.
The Traffic Homicide team was called out and assumed the investigation. Alcohol or drug use is not currently suspected in the crash, however, speed, distracted driving, and lack of seatbelt use appear to be factors. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
