On 1/25/17, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested James Allen Herman (130 Pansy St., Johnson City, TN., 55 years old) and charged him with theft of property over $1,000 and possession of stolen property over $1,000.
On 9/6/12, officers responded to a reported theft of a trailer at Simplex Grinnell, 5695 Bobby Hicks Highway. Video was obtained of the incident that later helped identify James Allen Herman as the suspect. Herman was later located staying at a hotel in Johnson City. Allen was confirmed to have been the subject who hooked up the trailer to his truck and left Simplex Grinnell. Herman was also found to have a camper and other items of property that had come from thefts in other jurisdictions.
On 1/25/17, Herman was located and arrested. Herman had been in the Sullivan County Jail where a hold for Washington County had been placed on him in reference to these new charges. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $20,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 1/26/17 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
