On 11/30/2016, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Travis N. Padgett, 25 years of age, of 149 Country Club Dr, Unicoi, TN, and Brett A. Sneyd, 25 years of age, of 101 Sun St., Johnson City, TN, and charged them with Theft of Property over $500.
At approximately 9:00pm officers responded to Walmart, 3111 Browns Mill Rd, in reference to a shoplifting in progress. Walmart Loss Prevention employees told officers that they had observed two males taking items from the camping and hunting section of the store and placing the items directly into Walmart bags that the suspects brought with them into the store. Loss Prevention employees told officers that the suspects had been in the store since 7:12pm. Officers waited with Loss Prevention employees outside of Walmart and stopped the suspects after they exited the store through the gardening section without paying for the items they had taken. The suspects immediately admitted that they had taken the items with no intention of paying for them. The suspects were identified as Travis. N. Padgett and Brett A. Sneyd. Several other items were found stuffed down the shirt of Mr. Sneyd. The total amount of the stolen items was $963.38.
Mr. Padgett and Mr. Sneyd were placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where they are each being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30pm on 12/01/16 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
