On 10/20/16, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Darrell Lansing Hobbs (120 Douglas Shed Rd., 38 years old) and charged him with worthless checks over $1,000 and worthless checks under $500.
On 10/19/15, officers responded to Tri-City Mower and Saw located at 2515 W. Market St., in reference to bad checks being passed at the business. Darrell Hobbs was reported to have come into the business and purchased a string trimmer. He used a check to pay for the item. Hobbs later came back to the business and purchased two more string trimmers, a leaf blower, oil, and trimming line. He paid for those items with another check. Both checks that were written were later found to be bad. Hobbs did not return or pay for the merchandise.
Darrell Lansing Hobbs was released from the Sullivan County Jail on unrelated charges and was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $6,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 10/24/16 in Washington County General Sessions Court.
