Johnson City Fire marshals and Police investigators continue to investigate Sunday night’s fire at the General Mills property, 500 W. Walnut St.
“We are retrieving and logging evidence, which is a time-consuming process in a space that size and with that much debris,” said Sgt. Don Shepard of the Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division. “Fire marshals and Police investigators are also interviewing witnesses and others who were nearby at the time of the fire.”
Sgt. Shepard confirms that there is still a person of interest in the case but charges have not yet been filed.
“We believe that our investigation will provide some answers sooner rather than later,” he said.
The Fire Marshal’s Office and Police are requesting the public’s help with the case. Anyone having information is asked to contact the Johnson City Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at (423)434-6166 or to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 434-6158.
