On 9/18/16, the Johnson City Police Department arrested Charles Bartz (282 Delmer Salts Rd., Gray, TN, 37 years old) and charged him with two counts of burglary and one count of theft of property over $500.
On 9/15/16, officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to a burglary at 2516 S. Roan St. A red Ford ZX2 was seen at the scene of the burglary.
On 9/18/16, officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to a hit and run crash at Founders Park. The vehicle, a red Ford ZX2, was found by officers and stopped at 137 W. Market St. The driver, Hope Dunford, was arrested and charged with DUI, driving on a suspended license, and leaving the scene of an accident. Her passenger, Charles Bartz, had a warrant out of Johnson City Juvenile Court for failure to pay child support. Bartz also matched the description of the suspect from the burglary at 2516 S. Roan St. While officers were on the scene of the traffic stop, an attempted burglary was reported at 1914 S. Roan St. Bartz was transported to the Johnson City Police Department and interviewed. Bartz admitted to both of the burglaries.
On 9/18/16, officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to another attempted burglary at 2516 S. Roan St. that occurred earlier in the day. Bartz and Dunford were identified as the suspects in this attempted burglary as well.
Charles Bartz was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 9/19/16 in Washington County General Sessions Court. Charges are pending against Dunford and Bartz in the attempted burglary that occurred at 2516 S. Roan St. on 9/18/16.
