During the afternoon of Saturday, June 4, a fatal traffic crash occurred on E. Main St near Ferrell Dr in Johnson City. Mr. Michael Conley, age 24 of 114 Vanover Rd in Johnson City, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Further investigation revealed that Mr. Anthony Hammonds, age 18 of 114 Vanover Rd in Johnson City, was the driver of the vehicle in which Mr. Conley was riding as a passenger. Probable cause was developed to issue an arrest warrant for Mr. Hammonds. He turned himself in at the Washington County Detention Center on the evening of June 6. Mr. Hammonds was placed under arrest and charged with Vehicular Homicide, Reckless Endangerment, two counts of Aggravated assault, Leaving the Scene of an Accident with fatal injuries, and Violation of the Financial Responsibility Law. He is currently being held at the Washington County Detention Center under a $260,000 bond, and awaiting arraignment on June 15 at 9:00 a.m.
