Members of the Johnson City Police Department’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Team are currently investigating a traffic fatality that occurred on E. Main St near Ferrell Dr on Saturday afternoon, June 4. Mr. Michael Conley, age 24 of 114 Vanover Rd in Johnson City, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Investigation has revealed that Mr. Conley was a passenger in a 1995 Ford Mustang that was being operated in a careless and reckless manner at the time of the crash. After the crash, the driver of the Mustang fled on foot and has yet to be apprehended. Further investigation has developed probable cause to believe that Mr. Anthony Hammonds, age 18 of 114 Vanover Rd in Johnson City, was the driver of the Mustang at the time of the crash. A warrant has been issued for Mr. Hammonds charging him with Vehicular Homicide, Reckless Endangerement, two counts of Aggravated Assault, Leaving the Scene of an Accident with fatal injuries, and violation of the Financial Responsibility Law. Should anyone have knowledge of Mr. Hammonds’ whereabouts, they are encouraged to please call 911.
