On 07/10/2013, Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested James Alan Johnson, a 32 year-old white male, of 2803 McKinley Rd Johnson City, TN. During a traffic stop on a vehicle that Johnson was a passenger in, officers asked Johnson for his identification because he was not wearing his seat belt. Johnson stated that he did not have his identification on him. He then provided personal information that was not his, however, was later determined to be a family member of Johnson’s. After checking the status of Mr. Johnson’s information it was learned that an active warrant was on file for a James Alan Johnson out of Washington County, TN. After speaking further with Mr. Johnson and confirming his true identity, he stated that he lied because he was scared and had knowledge of the warrant. James Johnson was taken into custody and charged with identity theft, false reporting, and violation of passenger seat belt law. James Johnson was transported to the WCDC this date and arraignment is set for 07/11/2013 at 1:45 pm with bond set in the amount of $15,000.
