On Monday, June 22, 2015 officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to 1001 Tulip St ona report of an unknown disturbance. The investigation revealed that Coby E Carson, 19, 404 Welbourne St, Johnson City, had showed up at the residence trying to get his girlfriend to leave with him. Family members apparently didn’t want her to leave and an argument then ensued. Another male, identified as Jacob T Bradshaw, 19, 358 Set Point Private Dr, Piney Flats, was with Carson.

When officers arrived on scene, Carson initially identified himself as “Matthew Liar.” Others on scene had called him by the name of Coby Carson on two occasions and officers then attempted to detain him until he could be positively identified. Carson then attempted to resist and a brief struggle ensued; however, he was eventually detained. Bradshaw had started to run at this point but was also apprehended by other officers who had responded to assist. Bradshaw was found with a pharmaceutical container that held two small baggies of a white powdery substance which field tested positive for MDMA .

Further investigation revealed that a gun had been fired prior to police arriving. Officers and a K9 unit then searched the area and located a .22 semi auto pistol where Bradshaw had been standing when police arrived. Some clothing and a pair of shoes were also found nearby which belonged to Carson. The shoes contained a digital scale and a small baggie with a small amount of the same white powdery substance believed to be MDMA. A total of $729 cash, the firearm and illegal drugs were seized. Both Carson and Bradshaw were transported to the Washington County Detention Center. Carson is being held in lieu of a $14,000 bond on the charges of criminal impersonation, resisting arrest, unlawful drug paraphernalia and simple possession of a schedule I controlled substance. Bradshaw is being held in lieu of a $22,000 bond on the charges of evading arrest, simple possession of a schedule I controlled substance and felony reckless endangerment. Both are scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on June 23, 2015 at 1:30pm.
